Katarina began skating on ice when she was five. Soon, her talents were evident and she was invited to Karl-Marx Stadt's special schools. This is where she met their teacher Jutta M ller. Witt made her mark in the second position she placed in the 1982 World Championships, held in Copenhagen. From that moment on, her grace and elegance attracted the attention of everyone. Then she began dominating this sport. Olympic success At the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Games, Katarina Witt won a close race to claim the women's figure skating gold medal.
